Blog 9: Monday, October 26th, 2015

Last week was Digital Citizenship Week.

An important part of my English class is to make you aware of what you post on-line and what it means to be a good digital citizen.  Being a good digital citizen includes:
- being aware of your digital footprints;
- demonstrating safe and respectful online etiquette;
- not cyberbullying, sexting, or posting inappropriate photos and/or videos,
- making important decisions about what to post to social media sites; and,
- not downloading or uploading inappropriate content

For this blog, I would like you to CREATE an important Digital Citizenship message using MEMES!

A meme in a generic message about a behaviour that is passed around on-line.

Using memegenerator.net or makeameme.org you will have to create a MEME about being a GOOD Digital Citizen.  You could share or e-mail me (gkatz@lbpearson.ca) the meme and then post your explanation about the meme on the blog site.

Have Fun!

  1. My meme is about paying attention of what photos you put on the internet. Sometimes teenagers think that posting inappropriate photos could be funny but yet they realize that anyone can see it. Once it hits the internet everyone is capable of seeing it even strangers. Sometimes it can also get you in trouble if you try to make fun of other people. that is when cyberbullying comes in.

  2. http://memegenerator.net/instance2/2632193 My meme is about the people who think that no one can track down what they do on the internet. Or the people who think that what they do on the internet is only private to them. I dont know why people think that other cannot hack into their computers and see what they do if big companies get hacked all the time.

    1. Yes, I can't understand people who think like this.

    2. That is true. Even companies like Sony can get hacked that means that your accounts are easy to hack.

  3. My meme is about the people who are mean to others in social media but don't want people to be mean to them. I think that it is something really common on the internet because some people enjoy hurting people, but when something happens with them they get upset. Something that I learned since I was a kid is that you don't do to people what you don't want them to do to you, so if I don't have anything good to comment on someone's post I just don't comment anything at all.The thing is, there are a lot of hypocrite people on internet.

  4. I choose boys that sends girls ''private'' pics to other people as a theme for my meme because I think that this is a thing that happens a lot in my world. I know some girls that went through this kind of stuff. When she was dating a guy she sent some pics to him, the girl was in love. When they broke up, for whatever reason, he sent her private pics to everybody... And the girl had some moments of her lives ruined, because her stupid ex boyfriend didn't know how to deal with the broke up and turned to be children again. When a girl trusts her boyfriend she will never think that something like this can happen, and the guy never has the right to do something with the pics that the girl does not allow him to do. But a lot of guys seem don't know this, they seem to think that is amazing to do it, that they are going to be more nice if they do it. And I really don't get this people.

    1. I agree that-that was a rude thing for the ex-boyfriend to do, but maybe she shouldn't have sent them in the first place. Better being safe than sorry.

  5. My meme that I created was about being responsible in general on social media. I made this meme because a lot of teenagers are very irresponsible, reckless and mean on social media. A lot of teenagers bully people on social media because of pictures that they post or what they do in general. So I hope that people could try to be more responsible on social media.

  6. The meme I created is about people posting nudes on the internet. I don’t possibly know why people do this. The only reason why that I can think of is because they want to show off their body or to attract the opposite sex. If someone ever asks you to post a nude you should probably know what is going to happen. If they do DON’T GIVE THEM ONE.

    1. I think your completely right about this. Nobody should be sending nudes because if the other person shows other people your just going to be the laughingstock of the school.

  7. My meme is about how anyone on this planet with internet can see what you have done, watched or said. I chose this because not everyone knows that even if you chose private browser people can still see what you have done. Before getting hired at a job the people that work there check your social media to see what type of person you are and if you not responsible or cautious about what you post or say it will be hard for you to get a job. Even if you delete something its never deleted, its just hidden. If your not safe it just creates problems for you in the long run therefor I think it is important for everyone to know how to be safe.

  8. My meme is about cyberbullying. I don't think people who cyberbully don't understand that the person they're insulting has feelings. Bullying on the internet doesn't make it less offensive to the person they're insulting. You should never cyberbully because that make the person being insulted lead to depression and that can lead to suicide. And I for one don't want to be the cause of a death. I'm not saying the only reason reason you shouldn't cyberbully is the chance of someone killing themselves, cyberbullying is very disrespectful and not something you should be proud of for doing.

  9. The meme that I have created is about people that post or send inappropriate pictures, for some reason there are many people who do this and I don’t think it is a good thing to do. Basically everyone can see what you post or even send, anything is traceable. Let’s put it this way, if you wouldn’t show the picture to your parents I don’t think it is an appropriate picture to send or post, so be careful about what you send or post and remember everyone is able to see what you put online.

    1. That is true, anyone could see what you post. Even if you post something via text messaging. It is still traceable.

  10. I made my meme to show that you should think twice because maybe not posting it is the right thing, I also chose bad luck Brian because when you look at him you think he is talking to you or that it seems like something he would say.

  11. The text inside my meme says "I don't always post weird things on Facebook... but when I do, I prefer not to... practice digital citizenship my friends". This is saying that if you post a weird or inappropriate photo of yourself, you are going to regret it. Even if you don't regret it now, you will regret it later on in life. For example, if you are applying for a job later on in your life, they will hire people to look at all of your social media. Especially if you are applying for a government job. If those people find inappropriate content that you posted recently, chances are, they will not hire you.
